Biography of L. Leona Frank

L. Leona Frank, Attorney at Law and Founding Partner of the Frank Law Office, P.C. in Indianapolis, focuses her practice in business law, commercial real estate, commercial litigation and banking. Ms. Frank received her B.A. in Political Science with honors from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and a Juris Doctorate degree from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas.

Ms. Frank is licensed to practice in the Indiana Supreme Court and the Northern and Southern District Courts in Indiana. She is currently an active member of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA), Indianapolis Bar Association (IBA) and the American Bar Association (ABA). She is a member of the Young Lawyer’s Section/Division of all three Sections, and serves on the Executive Committee of the IBA’s Women and the Law Division, to which she chairs the Networking Committee. She also serves on the Membership Committee for the ISBA.

While in law school, Ms. Frank served as a law clerk to two Forbes Fortune 500 companies including Great Lakes Chemical Corporation in Indianapolis (Intellectual Property) and American General Corporation in Houston (Corporate and Compliance, Tax). At American General, Ms. Frank assisted the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Corporate and Compliance with issues related to the failed merger with Prudential, U.K. and the then largest insurance merger on American soil with AIG, Inc., New York. During law school, Ms. Frank assisted two Houston practitioners in the representation of two Texas death row inmates in their last chance appeals.

Before starting her own practice in July 2006, Ms. Frank returned to Indianapolis in late 2003 and worked at two local Indiana banks, assisting with compliance issues and administration. Thereafter, she joined a Debtor’s counsel firm and then laterally joined a well known medium size Indianapolis law firm as a litigation associate, focusing on the representation of four Indianapolis Chapter 7 Panel Trustees. Ms. Frank served as lead counsel in over 800 Chapter 7 filings and her largest case of note to which she served as Special Counsel to the trustee is the litigation and bankruptcy of Winona Hospital in Indianapolis.

Ms. Frank is a large advocate of pro bono services and has volunteered in the following capacity: IBA Hospice program (2006 to present), IBA Ask a Lawyer, IBA Bankruptcy Legal Helpline, IBA Fiesta Indianapolis Volunteer (2005 and 2006), Community Development Law Center volunteer, “My Daily Constitution” Advisor and Collaborator with the Indianapolis Museum of Art (2006), RCA Championships Marshall volunteer (2006), and the John H. Boner Community Center Harvest Celebration Committee Member and Volunteer (2007).

Ms Frank currently resides in Indianapolis with her husband. In her spare time, Ms. Frank enjoys playing USTA and WTT tennis, league golf, scuba diving, rollerblading, traveling, writing legal fiction, and gourmet cooking.
